Florida Permit Desk

About Florida Permit Desk

Florida Permit Desk is an independent informational guide. It is not a government website. It is not run by, endorsed by, or affiliated with any county, city, or state office, including any building department, the Florida Building Commission, or the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR).

What this site does

Florida has dozens of local building departments. Depending on where your property sits, your permit may come from a county, a city, or another agency. This site tries to answer three plain questions for each area:

  1. Who issues permits for my address?
  2. How do I search the permit records for a property?
  3. What do common home jobs usually need?

How pages are researched

  • We use official sources only: county and city building department pages, floridabuilding.org, the Florida Statutes on flsenate.gov, and myfloridalicense.com.
  • Every page lists its sources at the bottom and shows the date it was last checked.
  • If we could not confirm something on an official page, we mark it Unverified instead of guessing.
  • When two official pages disagree, we say so and point you to both.

Before you start any work

Rules, fees, forms, phone numbers and website addresses change, and local offices can add rules of their own. Always confirm with the building office that covers your address before you start work, hire anyone, or rely on anything here. Nothing on this site is legal, engineering, or financial advice.

Partner boxes

Some pages have boxes labeled "Partner slot · placeholder · not active". They are reserved spaces for possible future referral partners. Right now they contain no affiliate links and no one pays to appear in them. If that changes, the boxes will say so clearly.
